Craig Cunningham has agreed to a two-year contract to serve as a pro scout for the Arizona Coyotes.

"We're thrilled to have Craig join our hockey operations department as a pro scout," said GM John Chayka. "Craig was a smart, hard-working player with an incredible passion for the game. We're confident that he will bring those same qualities to the Coyotes in his new role and that he will be an invaluable asset to our organization. We look forward to Craig helping us in several areas and are excited that he is staying with the club." Cunningham went into cardiac arrest on the ice before an AHL game in November. He had part of his leg removed in the procedure to save his life and he has made a remarkable recovery. We wish him the best in his new role with the Coyotes.

Clayton Keller gained valuable experience at the World Hockey Championship.

Keller had a strong tournament with Team USA with five goals and seven points in eight games and gained a lot of confidence as well. "It’s fast, skilled and guys are really smart with the puck, and everyone’s always one step ahead," Keller said. "It was great to play in the tournament and play against men." He was drafted seventh overall in 2016 and turned pro after a successful college season with Boston University where he had 45 points in 31 games. Keller had two points in three games with the Coyotes at the end of the season and looked very good at the NHL level. He is worth taking next season in all but the shallowest of pools.

The Arizona Coyotes have signed Kevin Ekman-Larsson to an AHL contract.

Kevin is the younger brother of Arizona's star defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. It doesn't appear that Kevin is much more than a depth defensemen after picking up seven points in 47 games for Tingsryds AIF in Sweden's top division. The Ekman-Larsson brothers have recently lost their mother to a long time battle with cancer. This new deal for Kevin will reunite the brothers for the majority of the year in the Arizona area. Kevin will play for the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL next season.

Strome picked up three assists in the final game, including the primary assist on Erie's overtime winner. "It feels unbelievable," Strome, the Otters team captain, told OHL TV. "... Playing my last game in Erie, it feels right to cap it off with a championship. We've been so close so many times. I think we just learned from our past experiences ... It feels good to be on top and on the other side of things." The Coyotes selected him third overall during the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. "You saw his production increase. You saw him expand his game and, trust me, that's just a sign of things to come. He is a real, real promising young player."
