Kelly Olynyk started Game 4 vs. the Cavaliers on Tuesday and scored 15 points in 26 minutes.

He started in place of Amir Johnson (shoulder) and finished 7-of-14 from the field with five rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks, but he missed both of his 3-point attempts. Olynyk gave the Celtics a nice scoring punch in the first unit, but he was also exposed on the defensive end several times. Coach Brad Stevens has been indecisive with his starting lineups during the playoffs, so it's anybody's guess as to what he will do in Game 5 with Boston's season on the line.

Jae Crowder strained his left thigh in Tuesday's Game 4 loss to the Cavaliers, but he said after the game that he's "fine."

Crowder went back to the locker room for a few minutes, but quickly returned and appeared to be moving around OK. He was effective on offense with 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four 3-pointers in 40 minutes, but he didn't have a prayer against LeBron James on the defensive end yet again. We'll get an update at Wednesday's practice, but consider Crowder probable for Game 5 on Thursday as the Celtics try to keep their season alive.

Marcus Smart fell back to earth in Tuesday's 112-99 Game 4 loss to the Cavaliers, scoring eight points on 1-of-9 shooting.

Yikes. He had nowhere to go but down after his incredible 27-point performance on 8-of-14 FGs in Game 3, but the law of averages caught up with the career 35.8 percent shooter. He made his second straight start at PG and dished out six assists with one rebound, one assist and one steal in 40 minutes, but he didn't make his usual impact on the defensive end in this one -- Kyrie Irving went nuts for 42 points. If the Celtics hope to stave off elimination at home for Game 5 on Thursday, Smart has to play better on both ends.

Kelly Olynyk will start Game 4 vs. the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

With Amir Johnson (shoulder) out, Olynyk should see a slight bump in minutes tonight in addition to Jonas Jerebko. After being held to a combined two points in Games 1 and 2, Olynyk gave the Celtics a nice spark in Game 3 with 15 points in 23 minutes. Boston needs offense and floor spacing with Isaiah Thomas (hip) out, so Olynyk should be heavily involved unless he starts out cold from the field.

Amir Johnson (right shoulder) will not suit up for Game 4 against the Cavs on Tuesday, according to sources of Michael Eaves of ESPN.

With Johnson set to spend Game 4 on the sidelines, we could see Kelly Olynyk move into the starting five, and there should be some more playing time available for Jonas Jerebko. For now, we'll be considering Johnson questionable for Game 5 on Thursday.

Amir Johnson (shoulder) said he is feeling better but will be a game-time decision for Game 4 vs. Cleveland on Tuesday.

Johnson initially injured the shoulder early in Game 3. He was able to return but was clearly limited. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday morning, Johnson stated that he has increased mobility in the shoulder area and that he will participate in shootaround and pre-game warmups before a decision on his availability is made. If Johnson is unable to play, Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko would see an uptick in minutes. It's also possible that coach Brad Stevens slides Gerald Green into the starting lineup.

Amir Johnson (sprained right AC joint in shoulder) did not practice on Monday and is being listed as questionable for Tuesday's Game 4 in Cleveland.

Johnson tweaked his shoulder during Game 3, and while he was able to initially play through it, it sounds like it swelled up a bit overnight. He's headed for an MRI, so we'll have a better idea on his status for Game 4 once those results are made public, but if he is forced to the sidelines that would open up some minutes for guys like Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko. Gerald Green could also return to the starting five if Johnson is indeed unavailable on Tuesday night. Stay tuned.

Guerschon Yabusele underwent surgery to remove bone spurs from the top of both feet according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg.

The 16th pick of the 2016 draft spent most of the season in China where he averaged 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds before joining the Maine Red Claws of the D-League for their playoff run. Yabusele is "unlikely" to be ready for summer league, but he is expected to be good to go for the start of training camp. The 6-foot-8, 265-pound forward has lots of potential on both ends of the court and the Celtics could use some help in their frontcourt, so we'll be watching his progress closely.

Gerald Green shifted to the Celtics' bench on Sunday, posting five points, two rebounds, one assist and one 3-pointer in seven minutes.

Green started Game 2 but came off the bench to begin the third quarter, telegraphing his demotion tonight. Brad Stevens continues to search for winning combinations in this series and he found some tonight, as the Celts pulled off an improbable 111-108 road win without Isaiah Thomas. Green's lack of activity in the victory doesn't bode well for Game 4.

Jonas Jerebko was huge in 13 minutes off the bench on Sunday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, one block and a pair of 3-pointers.

Most of Jerebko's minutes came during a Boston run while LeBron James was resting, shifting the momentum toward the Celtics, and he was on the court to close out the game. The 6'10" Jerebko brought an aggressive energy for Boston off the bench, and based on tonight's success we expect him to earn solid minutes in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Amir Johnson started on Sunday but had just two points and two rebounds in nine minutes.

Johnson sprained his right shoulder during the first quarter but he did return, briefly, so we'll leave him off the injury report. He was torched defensively by Kevin Love, who made seven 3-pointers in the first half, and frontcourt reserves Kelly Olynyk and Jonas Jerebko had much more success tonight.

Marcus Smart started Game 3 in place of Isaiah Thomas (hip), scoring a career-high 27 points on 8-of-14 FGs, including seven 3-pointers, with seven assists, five rebounds, two steals and one block in 41 minutes.

Smart scored 20+ points just four times during the regular season, while shooting 35.9 percent from the field, and he chose an ideal time to break out offensively. Brad Stevens admitted that with Smart starting in place of Thomas the Celtics are "a little bit bigger across the board [defensively]," and they limited the Cavs' high-powered offense to a relatively low 108 points tonight. Backup PG Terry Rozier played just eight minutes tonight, and Smart should have a massive role again on Tuesday.

Boston played through Al Horford during Sunday's Game 3 win in Cleveland, and he finished with 16 points, six assists, two rebounds, one steal and a pair of 3-pointers.

The Celtics took their first lead of the series on a bucket from Horford to open the scoring tonight, and his playmaking was critical. He shot just 7-of-18 from the field, but was aggressive in the post and allowed his teammates to get open looks -- they had six players in double-figures tonight. Kelly Olynyk was also effective with 15 points (5-of-8 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs), three rebounds and two assists, and Boston used their size to score 36 points in the paint vs. 24 for the Cavs. They'll try to duplicate the feat and even the series on Tuesday.
Sun, May 21, 2017 11:41:00 PM

Avery Bradley hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds left on Sunday, finishing with 20 points in the Celtics' 111-108 Game 3 victory.

Bradley's final shot bounced around the rim a few times before dropping through the hoop, a fortuitous time-waster that prevented the Cavs from getting off another shot. He didn't shoot well overall, at 8-of-23 from the field, but he added four assists, three rebounds and two steals without any turnovers in 42 minutes. With Isaiah Thomas (hip) out of commission, Bradley's production is as critical as ever for the Celtics' playoff hopes.
Sun, May 21, 2017 11:24:00 PM

Gerald Green will come off the Celtics bench for Game 3 on Sunday.

Green didn't start the second half during Friday's blowout loss, so this isn't a big surprise. Amir Johnson will earn the start tonight and it's unclear how many minutes Green will see with the second unit, but he's a dubious option in DFS leagues.
