Athletics purchased the contract of RHP Zach Neal from Triple-A Nashville.

Neal will join the Oakland bullpen ahead of Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Marlins. The right-hander was sporting a 3.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 15/4 K/BB ratio in 34 2/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level.

Athletics placed RHP Bobby Wahl on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain.

Wahl struggled in a two-inning appearance Tuesday night against the Marlins and apparently injured his throwing shoulder along the way. It's unclear how long he will be sidelined. Zach Neal has been called up from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding roster move.

Yonder Alonso (wrist) is out of the Athletics' starting lineup Wednesday afternoon against the Marlins.

Alonso suffered a bruised right wrist Tuesday when he was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning. X-rays turned up negative and he will probably be available off the bench for the A's in their series finale versus the Fish. Ryon Healy is starting at first base and Khris Davis is serving as Oakland's designated hitter on Wednesday.

Jed Lowrie finished 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's against Miami.

Lowrie has hit safely in five consecutive games, posting nine hits over 21 at-bats (.429) with six runs scored, two doubles, two hits and four RBI. He is slashing .283/.355/.464 as he continues to trend upward again after slumping hard in mid-May.

Ryon Healy finished 2-for-5 with his eighth home run of the season and three RBI in Tuesday's game against the Marlins.

Healy is slashing .260/.294/.450, as he continues to increase his production. He posted an impressive .305 average with 20 homers, 13 homers and 37 RBI across 269 at-bats last season, so he has a ways to go before getting back to those levels. Still, his power potential makes him an intriguing play in most AL-only fantasy formats.

X-rays on Yonder Alonso's right wrist came back negative.

Alonso was lifted from Tuesday's game after being hit by a pitch, but he's managed to escape with just a bruise. He'll probably still be sore for a bit, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sit out a game or two. Alonso just returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing time with a knee injury.

Yonder Alonso was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins after getting hit in the right wrist by a pitch.

Alonso stayed in to run, but Mark Canha replaced him at first base to open the top of the seventh inning. Alonso homered in the bottom of the second -- his 13th home run of the year -- before leaving after the HBP in the bottom of the sixth. He had just missed a handful of games with a knee sprain. The first baseman is probably headed for X-rays.

Jesse Hahn has been diagnosed with a right triceps strain.

Hahn suffered the injury in the third inning of his start Tuesday night against the Marlins and departed the game with a trainer. He was charged with five earned runs, lifting his season ERA from 3.02 to 3.81. A trip to the 10-day disabled list is probably coming.

Jesse Hahn left his start Tuesday against the Marlins after suffering an apparent injury.

Hahn exited with a trainer after throwing a 90 mph fastball to Marcell Ozuna in the top of the third inning. Look for a status update within the next hour. The right-hander had allowed four earned runs on seven hits and departed the game with the A's trailing 4-1.

A's manager Bob Melvin noted Tuesday that Ryan Dull's strained right knee is healing slower than expected.

"It may take some time before we get him back on the mound," Melvin told reporters. An MRI taken this past weekend ruled out major structural damage, but it sounds like the 27-year-old reliever could remain on the disabled list through much of June. Dull was sporting a disappointing 6.32 ERA through 15 2/3 innings this season out of the Oakland bullpen.

Chris Bassitt has begun experiencing arm fatigue in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Bassitt will get a few extra days off before his next minor league rehab start, and the A's are hoping that will do the trick. The right-hander was lit up for seven earned runs over 4 2/3 innings in his last appearance (May 20) with Triple-A Nashville. He worked five scoreless innings for Nashville on May 15.

Yonder Alonso (knee) is back in the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

Alonso will start at first base and bat fifth against Marlins right-hander Jose Urena after missing close to a week with a bruised left knee. Hopefully the 30-year-old slugger can pick up where he left off. He boasts a .991 OPS (173 OPS+) with 12 home runs and 29 RBI through 38 games this season with the A's.

Athletics prospect Matt Olson picked up four hits on Sunday for Triple-A Nashville.

Two of those hits went for extra bases, including his 10th homer of the season. A 2012 first-round pick, Olson has seen his stock decline in the past few years, but he's bounced back nicely in 2017. He's going to strike out a ton, but he might draw enough walks and hit enough bombs to compensate. Keep an eye on Olson going forward, he might be a potential steal.

Athletics prospect Jharel Cotton pitched seven strong innings on Sunday for Triple-A Nashville.

In his seven innings, Cotton didn't allow a run, gave up just three hits and struck out nine. After struggling with Oakland at the start of the season, it's nice to see Cotton pitching well, even if it is against competition he should dominate. Another start like this and we could see the right-hander back in the Oakland rotation.

Chad Pinder went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Pinder cracked a no-doubt two-run homer off Eduardo Rodriguez with one out in the fourth inning to give the home team a 3-2 advantage, an advantage which Andrew Triggs would be unable to hold. Still, Pinder tortured the Red Sox in this four-game set, pounding three home runs and a double while driving in six over the course of 14 at-bats. On the macro level, the slugger is slashing .286/.352/.673 with five homers and 11 RBI in just 21 games played.
