Amir Garrett surrendered seven runs in five innings Tuesday against the Indians.

Next time Garrett is sent to Triple-A, it will be for the right reasons. He gave up four homers tonight, bringing his season total to 12 allowed in 45 innings. His ERA is all of the way up to 6.00 now. He's better than that, but he was never a very good fantasy bet for this season.

Eugenio Suarez hit a three-run homer as a pinch-hitter Tuesday against the Indians.

Suarez struggled earlier this month, but he's been a lot better over the last week, hitting three homers. He'll be back in the starting lineup on Wednesday.

Eugenio Suarez is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

It sounds like a routine day off. Scooter Gennett will make the start at the hot corner.

Scott Feldman pitched six innings and allowed one run Monday in a defeat of the Indians.

Feldman struck out nine, which, believe it or not, is actually three off his career high (he fanned 12 in a complete-game victory over the Padres in 2013). Still, this was his high game in two years; he hadn't fanned as many as seven since 2015. Feldman is 3-4 with a 3.99 ERA.

Zack Cozart started Monday and went 1-for-4 with two RBI against the Indians.

Cozart didn't play Sunday because of lingering soreness in his left wrist.

Brandon Finnegan (trapezius) will throw a 20-pitch bullpen session Tuesday.

It will be his first time throwing off the bump since he strained his left trapezius in his third start of the season. Obviously he has a ways to go, but Finnegan is projected to rejoin the Reds' rotation sometime in the June 19-24 range assuming all goes well with his rehab.

Billy Hamilton stole two more bases Sunday in the Reds' loss to the Rockies.

He swiped second and third base in the bottom of the first inning after reaching on a fielding error. Hamilton officially went 0-for-5 at the plate and is batting just .258/.311/.348 on the season, but the 26-year-old speedster has racked up 23 stolen bases in 40 games. He's on pace for 87 steals.

Bronson Arroyo surrendered six earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Rockies.

Another ugly outing for the veteran right-hander, who holds a 6.75 ERA in nine starts covering 46 2/3 innings. He walked two and gave up nine hits Sunday, including a whopping four home runs. It might be time for the Reds to end this experiment.
Sun, May 21, 2017 04:28:00 PM

Zack Cozart is absent from the Reds' lineup Sunday.

Cozart was supposed to be off Sunday regardless, but his left wrist is sore again. Consider him day-to-day. The Reds have Jose Peraza at shortstop and Arismendy Alcantara at second base.

Reds signed RHP Vin Mazzaro to a minor league contract.

Mazzaro, 30, made one forgettable appearance with the Giants last season but spent most of the year at the Triple-A level, posting a 3.22 ERA. He'll provide depth.

Scott Schebler went 2-for-4 with four RBI -- including a three-run home run -- as the Reds came back to beat the Rockies 12-8 on Saturday.

Schebler had a sacrifice fly RBI in the third inning, but his big blow came in the sixth, when he capped a six-run inning with a three-run blast off reliever Mike Dunn. Schebler now has 11 homers in 40 games, good for sixth-most in the National League. He's also got 25 RBI and 18 runs scored to go with a .248/.321/.524 line. After watching Adam Duvall break out last season, this year is shaping up as the 26-year-old Schebler's coming-out party.

Devin Mesoraco went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Rockies on Saturday.

Mesoraco connected for a solo shot off reliever Chad Qualls in the sixth inning. The dinger was the second of the year for the 28-year-old, and his first since May 3. It appears health will always be a concern as it relates to Mesoraco, but he's still one of the best-hitting catchers in the league when on the field, batting .289/.400/.474 in 15 games this season.
Sat, May 20, 2017 08:45:00 PM

Adam Duvall went 1-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's win over the Rockies.

Duvall had an RBI single in the Reds' six-run sixth inning, and he also plated a run with a groundout in the seventh. The steal was also his third of the year, after he stole six in 2016. Duvall has just one homer since May 1, but he's found other ways to contribute at the plate, compiling a .259/.306/.500 line overall.
Sat, May 20, 2017 08:40:00 PM

Tim Adleman allowed six runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings in Saturday's no-decision against the Rockies.

Pro: Adleman didn't give up a homer, just the second time in six starts this year that he's kept his opponent in the park. Con: his seven hits allowed were second-most in a single start, and his four walks issued were the most he's handed out in an outing this year. His offense let him off the hook for the loss, but the 29-year-old still owns a 6.19 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through 32 innings. His life doesn't get any easier Thursday against a good Indians lineup.
Sat, May 20, 2017 08:27:00 PM

Reds transferred RHP Nefi Ogando to the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing has changed in the recovery timetable for the right-hander, this was done merely as a procedural move to create a spot on the 40-man roster. He's currently on a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville.
