USC junior WR Marqise Lee recorded a long jump of 24-feet, 1-inch during the NCAA West Regional.

He did not advance to the finals. Lee is an incredible athlete and was recently listed at No. 5 on CBS Sports writer Bruce Feldman's "freak list." He and Sammy Watkins could battle it out for the top receiver ranking, however, both have another season of eligibility remaining after this year.

USC has moved sophomore Max Tuerk from LT to C.

"It was a little overwhelming in the beginning," Tuerk revealed, "but the more repetitions and the coaching I've gotten has really helped a lot. His main competition for the starting job is Marcus Martin, who is also listed as the school's left guard. Aundrey Walker is expected to claim the left tackle spot.

CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman writes "there's a good chance" USC junior WR Marqise Lee will see snaps on defense this season.

There was talk of Lee attempting to convince coaches to allow him to play some cornerback last season. The vertical receiver ranks No. 5 on Feldman's "Freak List." USC receiver coach Tee Martin added "He's gotta be in the top five of the most freakish athletes I've ever been around."

ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks USC's Silas Redd as the top senior RB in the 2014 class.

Redd checks in as the fourth running back overall. "Redd isn't what I'd call an explosive runner, but he does a very good job of running through contact and grinding out extra yards," Kiper writes. "He ran a little dinged up toward the end of last season, and should be even better in 2013. When he takes on contact, Redd runs bigger than his listed 200 pounds." We are more worried about his ball security issues.

USC redshirt junior TE Xavier Grimble will miss spring activities due to a fractured chest.

The injury was previously identified as a broken rib. Grimble led all Trojans tight ends in receiving last year with 316 yards and five touchdowns. With Robert Woods jumping to the NFL, USC's girth of tight end talent will need to step up.

USC junior TE Randall Telfer will likely miss four weeks after undergoing knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Teifer only finished with 100 yards receiving and four touchdowns in 2012, a dip form his 2011 production, but he has plenty of talent and has been talked up by head coach Lane Kiffin. His running mate Xavier Grimble has also missed time this spring.

Colts selected USC C Khaled Holmes with the No. 121 overall pick.

Holmes (6-foot-3, 302) was a three-year starter for the Trojans, playing guard as a sophomore and center as a junior and senior. A finesse blocker with rare 35-inch arms for an interior lineman, Holmes managed just 13 bench reps in Indy and must add strength. Once he develops, NFL teams may prefer Holmes at left guard because he struggled snapping the ball at USC. He's a major project because right now he has zero power. The Colts have question marks all over the interior offensive line.

Eagles traded up with the Jaguars to select USC QB Matt Barkley with the No. 98 overall pick, sending Jacksonville the Nos. 101 and 201 picks.

Oddest fit of the draft so far. Barkley (6-foot-2 1/2, 227) wrapped his college career with a 64.1 completion rate and 116:48 TD-to-INT ratio as a four-year starter in USC's pro-style offense. Though decorated and productive, Barkley's inability to drive throws outside the numbers and lack of mobility put a lid on his long-range upside. Barkley draws high marks for intelligence and leadership, but has a skill set similar to Andy Dalton or Chad Pennington. Based on tape study, NFL Films' Greg Cosell has called Barkley a fourth-round talent -- he proved wrote -- and insists Mark Sanchez was a better prospect coming out of USC. New Eagles coach Chip Kelly has been open about changing his offense to suit his personnel, but we wouldn't be surprised if Barkley never played a down in Philadelphia and is simply being drafted as future trade bait.

Rams selected USC SS T.J. McDonald with the No. 71 overall pick.

McDonald (6-3, 219) is the latest in a long line of big, athletic USC safeties with suspect cover skills. Taylor Mays and Darnell Bing came before him. The son of six-time Pro Bowler Tim McDonald, T.J. started 36 college games, recording eight interceptions and 12 tackles for loss. He ran 4.59 at the Combine with a 40-inch vertical and 10-foot-11 broad jump. McDonald is long on athleticism, but was just as long on missed tackles in 2012, taking too many bad angles. He's a strong safety-only who will need to be covered up by the scheme. The Rams have holes at both safety spots, so he could see significant snaps as a rookie.
Apr 26 - 9:08 PM

Bills selected USC WR Robert Woods with the No. 41 overall pick.

Woods (6-3, 201) posted an absurd 111/1,292/11.6/15 stat line as a sophomore before taking a backseat to Heisman candidate Marqise Lee as a junior. Woods declared for the draft after catching 76 passes for 846 yards (11.1 YPR) and 11 scores in 2012. He ran 4.51 at the Combine and projects as a "Z" or slot receiver with sensational quickness and pro-ready route-running chops. His feet are lightning fast. A short-to-intermediate weapon, Woods profiles as a rich man's version of fellow ex-USC WR Steve Smith. Woods will likely play on the outside in Buffalo with Stevie Johnson set to take over the slot. He and 2012 third-rounder T.J. Graham will fight for targets behind Johnson.

SI.com's Peter King reports the Bills are seriously targeting USC QB Matt Barkley.

New Bills head coach Doug Marrone has said in the past he likes Barkley, but we find it a bit odd this news breaks now. Whether it's a smokescreen or not is uncertain but one thing's certain: the Bills need a quarterback and Barkley has the intangibles that teams look for.
Apr 24 - 5:01 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars are high on USC QB Matt Barkley, according to Jason La Canfora.

There have been rumors that the team could be looking to draft an offensive tackle, but one thing that we can't seem to shake is the team doesn't have a quarterback they can trust. Perhaps Barkley would be one that they can sit and develop while Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne spend a part of the season playing.

USC QB Matt Barkley said the team's play-calling was "predictive" last season.

"Kiff kind of suited the play-calling toward Marqise," Barkley said. "It was rough at times, because defenses kinda knew what was coming. It was sort of predictive. Robert Woods is a great player. … You want to be respectful of your coaches, because they are your elders, but when it falls on your shoulders, you probably should get involved." Barkley also said he would have had a more forceful, leader-type voice.
Apr 22 - 3:52 PM

One NFL scout said USC QB Matt Barkley is a "late 1st, early second" round pick.

The scout said that Barkley has "helped himself" but there are still concerns with him. Add this report to the various other ones about Barkley's stock, which seems to be all over the map. At this point, it's best to say that Barkley will simply be drafted.
Apr 17 - 6:31 PM

USC WR Robert Woods has visited the Vikings, Jets, Colts, and Eagles.

Woods has visited other teams, but those meetings have not been closed. Woods is an excellent talent who excels int he short to intermediate game from the slot, but teams will need to feel comfortable about his recurring ankle injury. Expect Woods to be a second-round selection with a chance to at the late first.
