Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said that Nicolas Brussino’s development as a playmaker could be vital for Dallas in 2017-18.
"He really knows how to play, and we wanted to get him a stretch of minutes in real NBA games playing the point," Carlisle said of Brussino's play late in the season. "We’ve seen his ball skills, and we’ve seen his ability to read defenses." The 6'8" point forward was buried on the bench for most of the 2016-17 campaign, but took advantage of some increased minutes in the final seven games with averages of 9.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Brussino is still learning English and was slow to adapt to the NBA, but he's on the right path and the Mavs have been talking him up for the past couple months. He's someone to monitor during the offseason and it sounds like he could earn a significant role in 2017-18. Thu, May 11, 2017 11:02:00 AM
