Reds manager Bryan Price said that Wandy Peralta is a potential option for the Opening Day bullpen.
As matters currently stand, the only southpaw locked into the Reds' pen for Opening Day is Tony Cingrani. Peralta, 25, would give Price another option. "On the days that we don’t have [Cingrani]," Price said, "it would be a really nice thing to be able to matchup a left-hander against some of the better left-handers in our division and in the National League." Last season, Peralta saw 7 1/3 innings of work with the major league team. His debut in the bigs didn't turn out so hot, as he surrendered seven runs on 11 hits in that space. In a larger sample size, he posted a 2.50 ERA and 58/26 K/BB ratio across 75 2/3 frames split between Double- and Triple-A in 2016. Wed, Feb 22, 2017 10:08:00 PM
