A sports injuries expert at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital believes Callum Wilson cannot rush back from his latest injury or he will risk complications which could potentially end his career.
Speaking exclusively to the Bournemouth Echo, Charles Willis-Owen says he expects Wilson to make a full recovery from his latest injury setback. The Cherries striker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in training last week, but it will be nine months before he is ready for a return to first-team action with the "right surgery and rehabilitation" or he will "risk rupturing the graft [repair]." Willis-Owen went onto add: "The fact he will be going into the surgery in the peak of fitness will stand him in good stead [and] given he has been through it all before recently, will help him too." The absence of Wilson was expected to hand Benik Afobe his chance, but Eddie Howe opted for a change of formation at Goodison Park last weekend and the DR Congo international was restricted to minutes from the bench as Josh King led the Cherries attack.
